Parents and students benefit from studying together Jewish values and expectations in the religious school setting.

The first seven master learning units in The Growing Up Jewishly, parent and child learning together series, are unique instructional programs. These units lead directly to an eighth unit, a Post Bar and Bat Mitzvah/Pre-confirmation unit that is designed for the student only. There are no more than three units and three lessons in each master unit outlining what is to be taught, and how it is to be taught.

Students and parents will enjoy lessons that are timely, worthwhile and challenging. Busy teachers will appreciate lessons that are teachable, realistic and authentic. Emerging young Jewish adults will welcome the independence of finding their Jewish commitment by themselves.

These are short and concise learning units designed to be presented in no more than six to nine lessons as opposed to the year long curriculum plan.

These teaching units focus on precise goals, use fast paced educational methodologies and are cognizant of student response.

When these Teaching Units have been used, there is a positive correlation between successful parent and child family learning. In addition, attendance at family worship services and the willingness of a family to make a post Bar/Bat Mitzvah commitment have increased.

These Teaching Units Include:

Grade One Judaism in God’s House
Child and parent explore and find Judaism together in the synagogue.

Grade Two Judaism in Our House
Child and parent explore and find Judaism together at  home.

Grade Three My Judaism is Special

Grade Four Life-Cycle Moments

Newly Revised & Enlarged!
Grade Seven  Bar and Bat Mitzvah

Post Bar/Bat Mitzvah • Pre-confirmation  The Three Things
The results of this unusual program enable the student to say:
(1) Judaism’s theology is unique, (2) I am proud of my Judaism,
(3) I want to make a commitment to Judaism.
